Laser Shows Melbourne: Acute Immersion at LIT 2026

Genius Laser Technology returned to Wyndham Park for LIT 2026 with Acute Immersion, an 85-metre walk-through laser installation designed to transport visitors into a world where light, nature and technology converged.

Created specifically for the landscape of Wyndham Park in Werribee, Acute Immersion surrounded visitors with dynamic, colour-rich laser beams moving through the trees. Soft atmospheric haze revealed the shape and depth of the light, transforming the trail into an immersive environment that felt part science fiction, part lucid dream.

Rather than watching the laser show from a fixed position, visitors moved through the installation and experienced it from within.

An immersive laser show designed for exploration

Traditional laser shows are often presented toward an audience from a stage, building or distant position. Acute Immersion took a different approach.

The installation was designed as a journey. As visitors followed the illuminated trail, their perspective continually changed. Laser patterns appeared between tree trunks, extended above the pathway and shifted as people moved through the landscape.

Every section offered a different composition of colour, movement and space. The result was an experience that encouraged visitors to slow down, explore and see Wyndham Park in an entirely new way.

This walk-through format demonstrated how laser light shows can become more than something audiences simply observe. They can create environments that people physically enter and remember.

Bringing light, technology and nature together

The natural setting was an essential part of Acute Immersion.

Instead of treating the trees as a backdrop, the laser design worked with their shapes, spacing and scale. Branches broke the beams into constantly changing patterns, while the haze gave the light a three-dimensional presence throughout the trail.

Producing an outdoor installation of this kind requires the creative and technical elements to work together. Laser positioning, programming, atmospheric effects and the movement of visitors all contribute to the final experience.

For Acute Immersion, these elements combined to create an installation that remained visually striking while complementing the character of Wyndham Park.

A highlight of Wyndham’s LIT 2026 festival

Presented across 10 nights, LIT 2026 transformed Wyndham Park into an after-dark celebration of light, projection, sculpture and immersive art.

Wyndham City described Acute Immersion as one of the festival’s highlights, with visitors becoming immersed in its dreamlike illuminated trail. The installation appeared alongside works from local and interstate artists, each exploring a different relationship between creativity, technology and the surrounding landscape.

We were proud to return to LIT and contribute another large-scale experience to an event that continues to bring art and technology into public spaces.

What Acute Immersion shows is possible

Acute Immersion demonstrates the flexibility of laser technology for festivals, council events and public-space activations.

A laser installation can be programmed as a high-energy spectacle, an architectural projection, a city-wide show or a slower, more contemplative experience. The creative approach can be adapted to the event, location and way the audience will encounter the work.

For event organisers, laser installations can offer:

  • Large-scale visual impact across outdoor environments
  • Immersive experiences that encourage audience movement
  • Custom programming developed around an event’s creative direction
  • Integration with landscapes, architecture, music and other production elements
  • Memorable opportunities for photography, video and social sharing

With more than 28 years of experience, Genius Laser Technology creates custom laser shows for festivals, concerts, public events and large-scale productions. From our Melbourne facility, we deliver laser shows across Australia, supported by our experienced production team and extensive inventory of professional laser systems.
